Trip Home 2/16 - 2/23

We arrived in San Antonio on Tuesday 2/16. We stayed for two days at Blazing Star RV Resort which is about 18miles west of downtown. We had stayed at this same resort back in 2007 and had spent three hours in the clubhouse one night watching the track of a tornado. The weather this time was nice and our visit to the Riverwalk was on a sunny day versus the rain back in 2007. We went downtown on Ash Wednesday, had a nice lunch on the Riverwalk, visited a church to get our ashes, and toured the mexican marketplace "The Mercado". We finished the day with a nice dinner at Logans Road House near the campground. It was a very nice day with the weather finally cooperating.

We boogied to Lafayette La. on 2/18 and then on to Knoxville, Alabama on 2/19. The people at the Knoxville campground are from the Williamsport area. The owner graduated from WHS in 1968. Small world huh!!

On Saturday 2/20 we moved on to one of the best campgrounds on our trip. Two Rivers Resort in Sevierville Tn. It is just north of Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg (The Dollywood Area). The post above has many pictures we took from our campsite. The resort is right on the French Broad River (A TVA river). It is only in it's third year and it is beautifully kept. Our second/last night there, we were sitting in front of the RV and after watching a Bald Eagle fly up and back down the river we watched eight male turkeys come out of the woods and down to the river for a drink across from our site. The turkeys were in the field for about an hour and we really enjoyed watching them. The finale for the night was the second great sunset of our stay. The weather was finally in the high 60's and it was really difficult to pack up and head north on Monday morning 2/22.

We are currently in Winchester, Va. at the Candy Hill Campground. The snow is deep outside, the water is shut down, and it's lousy that we had to return to this weather.

We will be home tomorrow, weather permitting, and back at the business of selling houses. and shoveling driveways.

The trip has been great. The greatest moment of the entire trip was seeing our beautiful, healthy, grandson for the first time. It is a miracle and we wish we were closer to watch him grow up.

Congratulations Jen and Magnus you have a beautiful family.

When completed, our trip will have been about 7500 hundred miles over 59 days. It might sound like a long ride but it really goes fast and we break it up along the way with stops in some of our favorite places as well as new places that look interesting.

This is truly a beautiful country even in the winter and during lousy weather. Every time I cross it it seems more friendly and interesting. Our next big trip will be out to see the Ekman Family and then up the West Coast into Canada. Can't wait.

Life continues to be great. Live in all! Enjoy the pics above!
