Well it's April 13, 2025 which is a long time since my last post. Without going into all tht has happened since then I'm going to try to summarize the remainder of the final voyage. The RV days are over so I think it's important that I document this final trip. I guess I decided to enjoy those final days and not spend the time posting. I'm sure there will be hole in the travels because it's been so long and so much has happened in the year and a half.
August 25
Traveled to Airway Heights, Wa on our boogie to the Oregon Coast. Great campground but on the way out I turned to sharpely and scraped the right side of the jeep. That, and the paint issue in Montana cost me bucks when I got back home
August 26
Boogie to Boardman Or. This campground is near the Columbia River on our way to the coast. The strange thing here was that it was closed. Apparently there had been some issue with the manager and he walked out a few days before we arrived. We took the spot we had paid for, spent the night, and left the next day. Strange situation.
August 27
Boogied to Pacific Shores Resort RV in Newport Or. Great Resort, beautiful site with a view of the Pacific Ocean and walking trails etc. We spent three days there, explored the area, fixed a flat tire, ate great food, explored the seals in the marina. Great time worth the visit.
August 30
Drove to Pacific Pines in Florence Or. On arrival we had the entry gate come down on the side of the bus. Not a good start to our two day visit. Nice people helped me with some waxes that took off the scrape. This was our first day driving the Oregon Coast. A beautiful ride along the coast highway. Florence is where we had a fabulous meal and visited the Oregon Dunes. Very interesting area.
September 1
Traveled the coast highway to Brookings-Harbor Or. Driftwood RV. We washed the bus here, Had an interesting meal in the local fish place. Nice area, different campground.
September 3
Traveled to Redcrest Ca. Ancient Redwoods RV. This park is in the middle of the redwoods, actually south of Redwoods NP. It's called the Avenue of the Giants. Very nice campground. Nice people and beautiful trees. We kicked around here for three days. Hiked, toured the state park welcome center, drove the car through a redwood tree, and just enjoyed the area. This is a very beautiful part of California I'm glad we were able to get here before we hung it up.
September 6
We drove to Shingletown Ca. near Mt Lassen NP. The campground was in the pines and had a nice deck and bar-b-que area. We toured the park the next day and were very surprized by the beauty, volcanic history, altitude, and diversity of the area. They have had forest fires here recently that you can see the results, but most of the park is beautiful. I really liked Lassen.
September 8
We boogied to Napa Valley Expo in Napa. The Ekman family rented an AirBnB near the campground and we spent the next two days touring Napa Valley winery's with them. We rented a limo for a full day of tours with the kids. Great fun but expensive. The highlight of this vist was dinner a the FRench Laundry Restaurant. We were treated by the Ekman family to a marvelous evening. Our visit to Napa was a great time with part of the family. I forgot that we also had a great lunch and tour at a winery that Magnus and Jen frequent.
September 11-12
Unfortunately we are heading back East. Our first boogie stop was Lost Hills RV Park. then on to Pine Ranch RV park in Banning Ca. Near the outlets. We spent three days here shopping, taking the tram in Palm Springs, touring, and getting our lights fixed on the toad. The issue was the cable but it took us a while to figure it out. A local in Banning was our saviour. The dinner we had in Palm Spring was great. I forget the name of this place. An old time Sinatra Place. Good Food.
