San Francisco, Pacifica, Santa Cruz, w/Jen and Family, Lake Tahoe (7/12 - 7/19)

LAKE TAHOE (7/17 - 7/19)!!

Out our RV door in the campground. Good thing I don't gamble.

Views of south Lake Tahoe.

The lake is the third deepest lake in North America. 1645ft deep. It doesn't freeze in the winter because of the depth.

The beach at a state park near South Lake Tahoe.

Windy day with water at about 65 degrees.

Some Geology information.

Brrrrr! Small beach. They have a dog there.

Some of the turquoise water in the northern part of the lake.

One of the gated houses in Incline Village on the northeast part of the lake.

We found out that we could probably afford this gatehouse. We priced one house at the reduced price of $6.2 million and saw a lakefront building lot .93 acres for a mere $9.8 million. to rich for me.

We left Yosemite Pines RV on Tuesday 7/12 and headed to San Francisco RV in Pacifica, Ca.
We visited the Ekman's, got haircuts, had the RV and car washed, visited my niece and my sister-in-law. We had a great visit in Alameda and enjoyed the time with the grandkids.

On Thursday Jen and the kids came to Pacifica and stayed with us in the RV. Magnus had to work on Friday so he didn't come to Pacifica. We went to Tam's Chinese Restaurant in Pacifica (a favorite) and had a good night. On Friday morning we headed to Santa Cruz, Ca, The campground (Santa Cruz Redwoods RV) is in the Santa Cruz mountains just northeast of the town. It sits right in the middle of a redwood grove. Super cool place. It was a tight campground but really nice. We had a great pull in site just above the river in the rear of the campground.

Magnus joined us on Friday afternoon and we went to a nice dinner at the Cowboy Grill just up the road from the campground. Great food. They have a redwood grove behind the restaurant where they have weddings and wedding receptions. Super nice.

On Saturday we drove about one mile to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. This park is basically a large grove of native redwood trees that have been reserved and protected from the saw. We took a short walk through these enormous beautiful trees. After the state park we headed down the mountain into the town of Santa Cruz. There is a large boardwalk here so the kids had a great time. We were able to win a few stuffed animal prizes so everyone was happy. They did the rides and then we all went out the pier and had a great meal at a nice seafood restaurant. It was a great day that ended with a nice fire and a second night of marshmallow roasting over the fire.

It was hard saying goodbye on Sunday but we had a long ride to Carson City which was our tour center for Lake Tahoe. Today we toured the lake and took many pictures of the lake. It was windy and cool which I guess is standard for this time of year. We got a little taste of the area which is very nice. This hits me as a winter ski type place. In South Lake Tahoe which is Nevada and California. (The state lines runs through the town) there are many motels, casinos, resorts, etc. Lots of shops and tourist things. We enjoyed our exploring.

Tomorrow we leave for a boogie run to Winnemucca, NV. which is right on I80. Tomorrow is 7/19/2016 our 47th anniversary. We will pull in early tomorrow and cook a nice dinner and pop the Frank Family Champaign. Happy Anniversary to Us!!!!!!!!
