Yosemite (7/9 - 7/12)

The ride to the campground was not the best we have had. I looked at the map and decided to take a scenic highway that looked to be about 35 miles shorter than the other way around. It turned out that the road was totally a white knuckle ride down a narrow super windy road with at least a hundred switchbacks and no guardrails and 1000 foot drops. Needless to say my bride was petrified and somewhat upset with me. This was a road I shouldn't have been on with a forty foot vehicle towing a car. A major mistake.

Ok, after my martini, things got better and the next day we made the trip up to Yosemite. This is a beautiful NP with gorgeous views, camping, hiking, etc. We got the opportunity to see the major attractions in Yosemite Valley in spite of the horrendous traffic. It was a weekend but the crowds were just off the wall. I would suggest a visit in the off season not the summer. We took a short hike to Mirror Lake and got to see Half Dome. It was a good day in spite of the traffic and the crowds. We had a great buffet at the Majestic Hotel near the village. No need for dinner after this marvelous meal.

When we were here in 2014 Eileen broke her foot. This visit went by without any incidents if you don't count the 30 mile ride down that mountain.

In the park south of Yosemite Valley.

Amazing trees.

In Yosemite Valley.

10x more beautiful in person.

Lower Mirror Lake.

An unwelcome guest. Notice the rattle and the fat middle. I think one of those squirrels may be missing.

Back in the Valley.

Bridal Vail Falls. This was the site of the foot incident in 2014. We just drove by.

Good bye to the Yosemite.
